At one time, up-and-coming rock singer Jude had it all: a great band, a platinum record, a loving girlfriend. This Christmas, however, he is well down the road towards spontaneous self-destruction. Unwitting at first, Jude has progressively alienated his band and driven away the love of his life. Tonight, the night before Christmas Eve, he has broken the final taboo during a disastrous gig. Yet Jude doesn’t see how badly his life has derailed, not until a ghostly procession of legends passes through his bedroom with a series of vivid and powerful wake-up calls. Will the Spirits help Jude put the friendship, love, and rock music back into his Christmas?

Spirits of Christmas is a modern-day rock’n’roll adaption of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. This novella will enchant romance readers, rock lovers, fans of ghost stories, and everybody who adores the festive season.

What I thought

Have you read the Rock Stars of Romance trilogy? Well I have and therefore I am destined to hop on any book that comes out written by the wonderful Nicky Wells. I am a huge fan.
However with that said I will admit in the beginning pages I was a bit dubious. How wrong was I. And let me tell you, me being wrong isn’t something that I readily admit to. While it was obviously inspired by the great Christmas story from the wonderful Charles Dickens it added a twist that only Nicky Wells could. While I am not totally clued in on music – especially from the golden age and those who have passed on, it is clear that Nicky is something of an expert. I mean remember the detail in Sophie’s stories? I did though have fun guessing who these ghosts were, and while obvious to some I had quite a giggle to myself. It was my first Christmas story of the season. I have to say any other will have quite a lead to follow.

Nicky’s take on A Christmas Carol was entwined with a wonderful story of ego, obnoxiousness, broken hearts, betrayal of sorts, friendship and love. How one man can ruin everything and what he has to do to get it all back. It was a real coming of age tale for our main man Jude.

I for one would love to know what the future holds, maybe we should petition Nicky Wells to give The Blood Roses their own story!
