Most of the guys in my town had me marked as off limits. My
dating history was slim to none, until Dylan. He didn’t let labels deter him
from sweeping me off my feet.
The day Avery Stanton took a chance on me is that day my
life changed. Nothing else mattered but her. All I ever wanted was for her to
be happy. I just wanted to love her, no matter how much distance was between
Dylan Knight wrecked me. He made me fall in love with him
and then took it all away. Now I’m back, and I can’t deal. How do I pretend
that he no longer owns my heart when all my heart does is scream his name?
Avery’s back and I know I have a fight on my hands. I
remember every minute, every touch, every kiss, and every breath of our time
together. Now I need to remind her.

My Thoughts

We all have those authors. The ones that we come across almost accidentally and then they suck us in and empty our paltry bank accounts because we just have to read every single thing they have ever written (unless it’s paranormal – I just don’t go there, I like the little bit of sleep that I rarely get). For me, Kaylee Ryan is one of those authors. I was introduced to her earlier this year when I was on a single father kick. Who am I kidding, I’m still on it but that’s another story. So when I got the opportunity to read Reminding Avery a few weeks early I was never going to pass it up. Would you? Didn’t think so.

So as usual I ignored the blurb, ignored the teasers and I just dived right in. Blind. I swear to God books are best read that way. You get to experience everything not sit there thinking you know what is going to happen or waiting on a certain something to happen. More about that in another post. Anyway if I could quit my rambling and get to the point, I hear you say. We all expect certain things from certain authors, so when I started this I was all about the single dad. Then I realised there was no single dad and I almost cried. I thought that this was going to put a dampener on the book. There was no way I was going to enjoy it as much as the other books. Was I right? HELL NO I wasn’t. Was I disappointed? HELL NO I wasn’t. Reminding Avery was just EVERYTHING. It was love in its truest form. It was sweet and loving and romantic. Until it wasn’t. Then it was loving and sacrificial – almost tragic. It made my insides hurt. I could feel the hurt coming off the pages and swallowing me up.

Isn’t that what everyone wants? Someone that will love you enough that they will sacrifice themselves for you. That they leave themselves open to a lifetime of heartache to ensure that you live your dream. Lay themselves down so that you don’t have to? Ok so maybe I’ve gone off on a canter here but this book. Oh my God this book is a true love story. I think its one of the most beautiful I have ever written.

You know what else I really love about Kaylee Ryan? Her characters are real. They are relatable. They are you and me. Look we all love the millionaire who falls in love with the girl next door – we swallow them up, but sometimes we need to remember that the girl next door might want to fall in love with the boy next door too!
