Most of the guys in my town had me marked as off limits. My dating history was slim to none, until Dylan. He didn’t let labels deter him from sweeping me off my feet.

The day Avery Stanton took a chance on me is that day my life changed. Nothing else mattered but her. All I ever wanted was for her to be happy. I just wanted to love her, no matter how much distance was between us.

Dylan Knight wrecked me. He made me fall in love with him and then took it all away. Now I’m back, and I can’t deal. How do I pretend that he no longer owns my heart when all my heart does is scream his name?

Avery’s back and I know I have a fight on my hands. I remember every minute, every touch, every kiss, and every breath of our time together. Now I need to remind her.

Hidden Depth by Brenda Rothert – Review

hddraft 2.png

BLURB:

I had it all.
Breaking into the entertainment business as a teenager wasn’t easy. I spent years of my childhood traveling, auditioning and hoping my big break would come. And when I did, I rose to a level I never imagined.
Elle Tyler: model, singer and actress. I couldn’t go anywhere without security anymore. It was everything I ever wanted and more – fame, fortune and worldwide recognition. At age twenty-four, I was living a dream.
But a single act of violence shattered my fairytale existence. In a matter of seconds, all the goodness in me was ripped to shreds. Overnight, the people around me dropped away, moving on to find the next big thing. I gave up on myself, becoming a woman so dark and forlorn I no longer recognized myself.
But the stranger who saved me that day, Justin Lockhart, never gave up on me. He still saw light through my darkness. And as we grew closer, I started to see it, too. And I also started to see that before that terrible day, maybe I didn’t really have it all. Maybe I was always missing the only thing that really matters.

What I thought;

Brenda Rothert is an author I stumbled across one day when I was recommended a book. I think it was even free at the time. When I got round to reading it I was instantly hooked and immediately read her whole back catalogue.

The Lockhart Brothers series was new at the time. I have waited with little patience for each of the boys books to be released and I was especially eager for Justins books as he wasn’t featured in the previous books as much as his brothers.

Hidden Depth was an amazing read. Intense would be one word that I use to describe it. Lets be honest Brenda Rothert is royalty when it comes to writing intense, sexy, soulful and heartfelt stories. You know how sometimes you are reading a book and everything is plodding along lovely and it is almost as if the author says oh we are 2/4 of the way through we better through in some angst/confrontation or drama.. yea you know what I mean. There is none of that here. Everything is well thought out, perfectly placed and beautifully paced. Everything unfolded in a timely matter, the heart strings were tugged and the humour brought out in a natural easy flowing manor. The story was so easy to read – too easy, it was finished in a matter of hours which is painful because it unfortunately takes a little longer for Brenda to write the next one!

Justin was just such a sweet yet strong character and Elle brought beauty, strength and a humble quality to the story. Together they were a beautiful couple that you couldn’t help but cheer on.

Mister Moneybags by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

Well now, just you take a look at him and tell me that you don’t want to open him up!

17855135_1231788453597033_3202060795687639771_o

What its all about

I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”―her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type―snobby, over educated, silver-spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t―a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”―all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

What I thought

Well now. What can I say, I did it again. Or maybe I should rephrase that. They did it again.

I am not always a fan of joint ventures. Sometimes they have an air of trying to hard. Never with these two. Actually when I first read one of thier books I didn’t even realise that it was two authors. Someone said read this and Tanya couldn’t one click fast enough.

They are hilarious. Im not a fan of comedy books but that isn’t what they write, their books just have humour laced through them. I think that because alot of it is every day humour or sarcasm is why it appeals to me so much. So I suppose you are wondering what I am whittling on about – (get what I did there? If not that means you haven’t read the book yet!) when I said they did it again? I forgot that they dupe me. Their titles – I love them, they make me think that I am going in and its going to be all light hearted and funny and then bam just like that they punch me in the feels. Every.Damn.Time. I have to hand it to them, they do it well.

I had a list of things I had to do today. I didn’t do any of them. I started Mister Moneybags when I was still in bed this morning. I was just over half way through when I was still in bed this afternoon (thank God the kids are on Easter break) and I finished it while sitting at the table when I should have started dinner 90 minutes previously. It is that good. I couldn’t put it down. There were parts that I was wetting myself laughing, parts where I was cringing and shouting “don’t do it” at my kindle and bits where I wasjust so choked up my nose was snotting. Yes I know you really didn’t want that visual but didnt your mammy ever tell you that you don’t always get what you want!

Anyway if you want a really good book to put an end to any productivity you might expect to have then let me thoroughly recommend Mister Moneybags, you really won’t regret it. Your husband might when he gets no dinner – but you won’t!

Girl In The Mirror – Elizabeth Reyes

unnamed

I have a certain handful of authors who I will drop everything (except my trousers ;p ) and read their book. One of those is none other than Elizabeth Reyes. There is not a book that she has written that I have not read. I doubt that there will ever be a book she will write that I won’t read, and please Elizabeth, do not feel the need to prove me wrong.

So last week, Girl In The Mirror released. I feel I have to say it because though many of you know already, this may be someones first time reading my reviews – I do not read blurbs. I like to go as blind as possible into a book and experience the story as it is meant to be without having any crumbs or knowing what is coming up. I find I am just waiting all the time for something to happen.

Before I talk about the book I would like to talk about the cover. Isn’t it just amazing. I think it is the most hauntingly beautiful cover I have ever seen. I would love to know what you think – tell me in the comments section.

16486878_1349710648428967_5364487878040172878_o

Those eyes!

Its really impossible for me to talk too much about this book without giving too much away. One thing that I will say is that it is very different (in my opinion) to anything else I have read by Elizabeth Reyes. It took me a little while to sink in and get comfortable. We all have our favourite authors and I suppose to a certain extent we know what we expect from them. By no means was it bad, I just had to rewire my thinking a bit. The story took over though and carried me away. I got so drawn into this story I didn’t want to go to sleep. When I woke I picked my kindle straight up and didn’t want to get out of bed (bewteen you and me I didn’t for quite a few hours).

This was quite a different read for me. There was a bit of a mystery in there. More than a bit of suspense. You will draw suspicions, then you will second guess yourself. Are you right?  Possibly – maybe – just a little bit?  I know for a fact that it wasn’t just me thinking this.

Your stomach will knot and twist. Your heart will ache. You will smile and you will cry. You might want to hop your kindle off the wall or off a character. This books will turn you inside out, in the best possible way.

What you will definitely do is fall in love with Maggie and Nic!

Hot Mess by Emily Goodwin

Title: Lovesick

Author: T.L. Smith

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I couldn’t do broken.

Broken is what he was.

Broken is what I will always be.

To his eyes, that held so much despair, I couldn’t look for long.

To his fist, that clenched so tightly, like he was locking away the sorrow.

To his lips, that never uttered a word, from the years of heartbreak.

And despite it all, I couldn’t stay away from him.

It was like he was drowning in an ocean, and I wanted to grab his face, and whisper to his lips, “Don’t forget to breathe.”

This was how I fell for a man. A man who was so lovesick, I was afraid he would drown me in that same ocean he was lost in.

“Lovesick isn’t your typical romance. Nor is it for the light of heart. Prepare yourself for all the feels, and learn to live again through these broken, yet incredibly strong characters.” ~Molly McLain, USA Today Bestselling Author

“Slow burn. Those two words explain my emotions while reading this raw love story. T.L. Smith left me lovesick. A refreshing read full of dark feelings that will leave your world spinning. Perfection amongst shattered hearts.” ~HJ Bellus, USA Today Best Selling Author

The Failing Hours by Sara Ney

Title: How To Date A Douchebag: The Failing Hours
Author: Sara Ney
Genre: New Adult, Sports Romance, College Romance

Release Date: January 31, 2017

Zeke Daniels isn’t just a douchebag; he’s an asshole.

A total and complete jerk, Zeke keeps people at a distance. He has no interest in relationships—most assholes don’t.

Dating? Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for him.
He’s never given any thought to what he wants in a girlfriend, because he’s never had any intention of having one.

Shit, he barely has a relationship with his family, and they’re related; his own friends don’t even like him.
So why does he keep thinking about Violet DeLuca?
Sweet, quiet Violet—his opposite in every sense of the word.

The light to his dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit.

And that pisses him off, too.

What I thought

Ok, so, a girl has to be honest when it comes to doing reviews. Anyone that knows me or reads this blog with any kind of consistency knows that I don’t do well with ‘funny’. Sarcasm – i’m really good with but funny books are altogether different. M.E Carter (if you havne’t read her books then you really should) introduced me to Sara Ney. I have to say I was a but apprehensive but when an author I trust sends me in the direction of another I take note. So a couple of months ago I read How To Date a Douchebag and I absolutely loved it. When I had the opportunity for an early read of #2 The Failing Hours, well that was a no brainer.

When I started reading it I was a little concerned, the very beginning was very familiar. It was similar to the first book. Thank God though I was worried for nothing. The Failing Hours was a really enjoyable read and absolutely on its own merits. It made me laugh several times because while i’m not good with funny books i felt that it all flowed so naturally. Sara Ney nailed it and it didn’t come across as trying too hard. Of course then it had depth that wasn’t necessarily expected. Zeke is a bit of an onion – peel back a layer and there is another one, be careful too because he may well make your eyes water too! And Violet – let us not forget her. Such a strong powerful woman. She has been through more than anyone should at her age. Just the perfect person to sort out our favourite douchebag.

SO in all, I loved it. I flew through reading it because it was just such an addictive read. I was wondering just what he was going to do to self sabotage himself and how the hell he was going to fix it. Just like car crash TV, I couldn’t look away! I cant wait to hear what you think of it!

Best Read of 2017! A one click must for any lover of hot, sexy romance done RIGHT ! [This] story is the quintessential slow burn effect…Zeke will come to own your body and soul–I am OBSESSED with this series and The Failing Hours has just shot to my ‘Best of All Time’ list. Be prepared to fall in love with a douche bag and the woman who sets him straight. ” – Books and Boys Book Blog
“That was EVERYTHING I expected, wanted, dreamed of. . . this is a MUST FREAKING READ. UNFORGETTABLE goodness. NA romance at it’s best.”  – Angie’s Dreamy Reads
“Sara Ney has delivered a sexy, jerkwad douchebag with soul-deep feelings and the sweet, kind, unassuming girl to reach his hidden heart in one of the best NA romantic comedies I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Ney’s impeccable writing, fresh characters, and feel-good story will stick with you forever.” – Bestselling Author Staci Hart
“I took so much pleasure in Zeke’s looming destruction (insert evil laugh)….” – The Reading Belles

The clock on the wall counts the seconds, steady as the rhythm of my beating heart, which thumps wildly within my chest until the glass door to the library opens, propelled by a gust of wind.

Some new fallen leaves flutter in, the heavy doors slamming from the draft.

Along with them? Zeke Daniels.

He shuffles in, dark gray sweatpants hanging low on his hips, black Iowa Wrestling hoodie pulled up over his head, the university’s bright yellow mascot screen-printed across the chest. Backpack slung over one shoulder, black athletic flip-flops, and a pair of black sunglasses perched on the bridge of his strong nose complete the overall ensemble.

He is utterly…ridiculous.

Unapproachable.

Daunting.

His arrogance knows no bounds; I can see it in his loose gait, the exaggerated swagger, and the too-casual way he’s dragging his flip-flops across the cold, marble tile floor. It’s noisy, irritating, and completely uncalled for.

In the moment, my mind drifts to his personal life, and I theorize that he listens to heavy metal music to sooth his foul temperament, drinks his coffee black—as black as his soul—and his liquor straight up. I imagine once he’s had sex with someone, they’re never invited back. I go one step further and theorize that they’re never invited to spend the night at his place, either.

Zeke Daniels makes his way to a table at the far end of the room, near the periodicals, one out of the way with plenty of privacy.

Sets his bag down in one of the four wooden chairs. Flicks on the small study lamp. Plugs his laptop cord into the base and stands.

Turns.

Our eyes would have met then were it not for those ludicrous sunglasses. I choose the exact moment he lifts his gaze to look down at the ground. Busy myself with shuffling papers on the counter. Count to ten instead of chanting, Please don’t come over, please don’t come over, please don’t come over…

But luck isn’t on my side because he most decidedly does.

Makes his way over like a predator at a pace so deliberate, I’m convinced he’s doing it on purpose. As if he suspects I’m watching from under my long lashes, dreading his imminent arrival.

He basks in my discomfort.

The distance between us closes, his strides purposeful.

Twenty feet.

Fifteen.

Ten.

Eight.

Three.

His large hand reaches up, pushing down the hood of his sweatshirt, his fingertips pinching the earpiece of his sunglasses and pulling them off his face. My eyes follow the movements as he folds them closed, hanging them on the neckline of his hoodie.

His gaze lingers—those clear gray eyes famous around campus—and finds the shiny silver bellhop bell perched on the counter with the sign next to it that reads, Ring for help.

Ding.

The tip of his forefinger presses down on the small bell.

Ding.

He hits it again, despite me standing not three feet in front of him.

What an ass.
Purveyor of all things witty & romantic, I love: iced latte’s, traveling, and bright, bold colors. On any given day, you can find me in my office, lovingly gazing at my bookshelf or shuffling my Bic felt-tip pen collection. I love hand writing letters, and sarcasm.

I live in the midwest, but “Will Write for Travel,” and believe everyone should follow their dreams, no matter how big or small. My favorite authors include Cindy Miles, S Walden, Suzanne Enoch, Tessa Dare (to name a few). I am a glutton for Historical, RomCom, Sports and MC romance.

One husband. Two daughters. Plenty of chaos.

Truth Alan Reacher was a biker. He was a bladesmith. What he was not, was a fool.

The moment he walked in on his girl screwing his cousin on his bike, he does the only thing he can do.

He ditches the bike seat—and the girl—riding right out of her life without a backwards glance.

That is until he’s forced to attend the marriage of his cousin to his cheating ex-girlfriend. The only bright spot of the entire thing was watching some chick go off on the groom—the groom’s ex-fiancé—right in the middle of the bouquet toss.

***

Verity Ruthann Cassidy was supposed to be here today attending this wedding as the bride, not watching the festivities as a guest from the chairs she’d painstakingly purchased covers for while her fiancé—now her ex-fiancé—screwed around on her with another woman.

The icing on the wedding cake that she refuses to eat? She’s forced to attend the wedding due to her mother being the wedding planner.

However, the night doesn’t turn out quite the way she expects it due to the hot-as-hell biker sitting in the chair directly beside her. The man gave one hell of a speech during the reception that sounded like something that could have come straight out of her own mouth, and she enjoyed every single second of it.

***

Thrown together under similarly lousy circumstances, the two newly single jilted former lovers of the happy couple decide to go to Vegas on what was to be Verity’s honeymoon trip.

One thing leads to another, and the next thing they know, their night has gone from a celebration of being single to a marriage—to each other.

Verity and Truth now have to figure out if everything that happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas.
