What Annie Thought

Ink My Heart is a novel from Jean Haus and is the second book in the Luminescent Juliet sereis.

Tattoo’s. Check. Lip Rings. Check. Rock Band. Check. What else does a good book need? Ohh that is right you need a hot leading male that makes your panties wet with excitement. Justin will do that with one side smile.

Justin is a rich pretty boy, who lives life to the fullest. His parents were never around, so he did whatever he could to get their attention. That meant tattoos, sleeping around and being in a band. One night he stumbles into a tattoo shop, and as soon as he hears Allie’s voice something inside him is intrigued! The only problem is how can he possibly make her give him a chance when all of his past sexual encounters keep coming out of the woodworks.

Being a female tattoo artist has Allie used to guys coming into her shop and flirting with her. She has learned to develop walls. Afterall, she has been burned one to many times. She has secrets and scars from her past, and she is just not sure she is ready for her heart to be broken again. Justin is just that. A heartbreak waiting to happen.

Justin, Justin, Justin! What can I say about this man other than…..HOLY HOTNESS! He is super-hot and can make any girl in her right mind swoon. Who doesn’t love a bad boy?

The characters in this book where a little off. Don’t get me wrong I did have a connection with them, but it just wasn’t right. I needed more from them. I was slightly disappointed. It is almost like there was too much drama, and not enough character development. For this reason, I found myself skipping through the paragraphs. I give this book 3.5 stars!

What I thought

I must say I thought that reading a book within a book would be quite confusing. I am one of these people that cannot read two books at once. However once I got into the swing of it I was looking forward to when the stories switched. I don’t know which character I enjoyed more.

This book could be any of us, either now or in 10 years time. Dawn is frustrated feeling unattractive and unloved. She starts writing and finds herself almost living vicariously through her alter ego. Mmmm we can all be guilty of that…

I love how she is feeling so frumpy and her alter ego is egging her on to change her life. She finds who she really is through writing.

This really is a very charming book. Its warm, engaging and really very witty. A most entertaining read. I love how the lines blurred, cos lets be honest when you are writing that its quite often what happens. I am sure most authors have left a little of themselves in each book they write. It has a great balance between what could possible be real life and fantasy!

My thoughts

Ah here, I don’t even know where to start with this one! I love Brandon. Have done since way back in Sweet Sofie, and boy did he get a raw deal there. Part of me thought he should have got the girl, now I’m so damn glad he didn’t cos we wouldn’t have this story.

Breaking Brandon has all the intensity we expect from Elizabeth Reyes books. Seriously if I were to read a book by her that wasn’t all angsty and intense I would be asking questions! But WOW this book packs a whole new punch. We cross territories a little bit, turn up the heat and BAM Elizabeth Reyes actually gets better. Who knew this was possible. Every time I read one of her books I say “Best yet” but let me tell you this one is going to take a hell of a lot of beating.

I was sucker punched no less that THREE times while reading this book. I actually felt winded. Real – I didn’t see it coming an you are screwing with my heart kind of sucker punches. One particular part was like watching a car crash you knew was gonna happen but couldn’t stop. I even turned off my reader and refused to read it. I swear I even lasted about 30 seconds til I turned it on again. I did though have teeth marks on my fist cos i had it in my mouth while reading it!!

Best book yet!! Full of surprises I want to read it again for the 1st time. When you do read it allow time, I didn’t get dressed today, cancelled my plans and didn’t dress the children. They weren’t so impressed!

What I say

Oh dear sweet baby Jesus. I am counting myself extremely lucky. I only read Real about 6 weeks ago. So I did not have as long to wait as the rest of Remy’s fans for this installment of his story. I am also extremely luck that as Neda at TheSubClub books got me hooked Remy in the first place that I was able through Nina also over there to get my hands on an arc for mine. Jealous much;)

Anyhoo…This books is everything you could have possibly wanted of expected from Katy Evans, and lets be honest she had a hell of a job following on from Real. I would say to you that if you have not yet read Real then do before you read this. While yes, you probably could read it as a stand alone, you wouldn’t get the full amazing benefit of it.

I ate this book up, almost literally. I couldn’t do anything without it in my hands. I did no housework, I did however manage to look after my children. OK OK maybe I just did the bare minimum but hey isn’t that what husbands are for? Every now and again they have to take on for the team.

Our Remy is every bit as intense, sexy, and downright f**ka*le as he was when we left him the last time. He is stripped bare in mine and we get to see him at his most vulnerable.

As for Brooke she has a big impact in this one too, she also has a hell of a lot to deal with. I think though we will always have Remy’s back. Unfortunately for Brooke that means that there were times I would have like to bitch slap her. In parts she was almost as frustrating as Kiera from the Thoughtless series. This is good though, this means she made us feel something. It would be worse if she was just there and we had no opinion of her.

I am not letting out any of the story line, you should be able to experience it just like I did. BUT let me tell you this ladies (cos i’m pretty sure it will be ladies) this book is epic!!

PS. I was just about to publish this post when I was grabbing a link from Goodreads. I had an orgasmic moment. I kid you not. I knew the next book was REMY (whoop whoop) BUT I just see book four and book 5. Oh yes baby thats what dreams are made of!

What I thought

Have you read the Rock Stars of Romance trilogy? Well I have and therefore I am destined to hop on any book that comes out written by the wonderful Nicky Wells. I am a huge fan.
However with that said I will admit in the beginning pages I was a bit dubious. How wrong was I. And let me tell you, me being wrong isn’t something that I readily admit to. While it was obviously inspired by the great Christmas story from the wonderful Charles Dickens it added a twist that only Nicky Wells could. While I am not totally clued in on music – especially from the golden age and those who have passed on, it is clear that Nicky is something of an expert. I mean remember the detail in Sophie’s stories? I did though have fun guessing who these ghosts were, and while obvious to some I had quite a giggle to myself. It was my first Christmas story of the season. I have to say any other will have quite a lead to follow.

Nicky’s take on A Christmas Carol was entwined with a wonderful story of ego, obnoxiousness, broken hearts, betrayal of sorts, friendship and love. How one man can ruin everything and what he has to do to get it all back. It was a real coming of age tale for our main man Jude.

I for one would love to know what the future holds, maybe we should petition Nicky Wells to give The Blood Roses their own story!

OK OK so the blurb doesn’t really give much away does it. Secrets of a Chalet Girl is a lovely novella from the wonderful Lorraine Wilson. Its the second book in her Ski Season Series. Set in the Slopes of Verbier its story centres on Flora and Zac whose story begins at the wedding of Holly and Scott. We of course already know Holly and Scott from the first book in the series – Secrets of a Chalet Girl. Flora is just beginning to recover after getting out of a bad relationship and as part of a dare kisses Zac during Holly’s hen night. You know the rest, girl meets boy, boy is hot, boy drags her back to his chalet.

This story follows Flora and Zac on their Holiday fling, the ups, downs, the twists and the turns.

It is a lovely way to pass an hour or two getting caught up in a short story that doesn’t require you to get heavily invested. And let me tell you this, no one – and I mean this, no one can fit a whole story into 70 odd pages the way Lorriane Wilson can. Good as she is though she will always leave you with a taste of more!

I for one am looking forward to Revenge of a Chalet girl out on December 19th. I can only imagine what Lorraine has in store for us!

What I say
There is nothing quite like snuggling up on the couch on what may as well be a winters night with the fire blazing, something to much on and a good book. Even better when that book is from one of your absolute favourite authors and you have an advance copy. Yup thats right, ever since I read her first book, Caught Up In Us I just can’t get enough of Lauren Blakely and what have become known as ‘The Blakely Boys’.

This most recently Blakely Boy is no different, Matthew Harrigan is just as adorable and impossibly sexy, or should I say as ’eminently lickable’ as all those that came before him. Our leading lady is also just as fabulous. Jane Black, the woman who had her heart shredded and is fighting her way back.

As always I was totally hooked from the word go. Lauren Blakely always reels us in nice and quickly and we eat up the story. The only problem with that is that because we can’t get enough we read into the wee hours of the night, the story is over way too quickly and we are left with a book hangover. While that sucks as a reader I am sure it is music to an authors ears!

Far Too Tempting is also funny. While I always say I don’t ‘do’ comedy – this wasn’t comedy as such. It was witty. It was banter. It was very Lauren Blakely. If you have ever been lucky enough to have had interaction with Lauren you will know this book is all her. Even her emails are laced with it. It’s not forced humour or that she is trying to be funny, I’m guessing this is just Lauren’s personality and we are very lucky that it transpires into her books.

Basically what I am telling you is this book is awesome and you need to go and buy it.

WOW!! Sometimes a book stuns me and leaves me (almost) speechless. Willing Captive is one of those books. As usual, I did not read the blurb. I was expecting something along the lines of Fifty Shades, you know all dom and sub and she can leave when she wants – yada yada yada.

Was I in for a shock? Willing Captive is one of my favourite books of this year. I could not put it down which is funny because I have put off reading it for ages. It was totally gripping. Unlike most anything else I have read. The closest I think would be The Pleasures of Summer by Evie Hunter. Still though I was definitely the one held captive by Belle Aurora.

It has everything, it’s not dark but its edgy. It’s sexy yet not tacky or predictable. It’s compelling – from the outside Lily looks like she has it all. However she was lonely and isolated and had no life to speak of, then she finds happiness and it’s taken away from her again. My heart was broken for her. Did I mention the book was HOT. Nothing like a big sexy man getting in touch with his emotions. There aren’t many books I read a second time, but this will certainly make that list.

I told my sister in law to read it and thought I would share her ‘review’ with you;

I agree with her though. 5 blazing hot stars for Belle Aurora and Willing Captive.
Now I am off to find another fix from her collection!

A little taster?

Walking over to the door, I close it, taking my time so as to not make a sound. Once it’s shut, I open the dresser drawers, take out a pair of simple white underwear and a matching plain bra, remove the tags, then step into the panties.
As soon as I reach down to pull the panties up my legs, the door swings open. I see a scowling Nox, but when he sees the position I’m in, his scowl disappears to be replaced with a slightly gaping mouth.
I’m mortified. But the look on his face tells me he’s possibly just as mortified. Maybe more. And I certainly got the results of my experiment. Forcing down my flush to no avail, I clear my throat and check my watch. Nodding with pursed lips, I say clinically, “Forty seconds, give or take. Not bad, Nox.”

What? Who, me? Get outta here!

That is exactly how I felt earlier. Here I was driving home from College in bloody awful conditions and I heard my phone buzzing a couple of times. I had pulled into a petrol station and I had a couple of tweets. Congratulating me on my nomination for the Festival of Romance. I had no idea what they were all about. Then it happens. My phone dies. Yup, that’s kind of typical of how my days was going up til then.
