Finding Cinderella

Finding Cinderella

Findind Cinderella

What it’s about

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen
+outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

What I thought

I think my heart literally broke reading this story. We all know Daniel as the joker of the pack, the ultimate piss taker. I thought his book would be just more of that. Should have known better. We know Colleen Hoover likes to pull at our heart strings. She didn’t just pull this time, the mean cow (only kidding!) twisted them too. I think I even heard one snap but I was so busy wiping the tears on my cheeks I couldn’t be too sure. Only, just to be a complete contradiction it was completely heart warming at the same time. It restores our faith in fate. You know that old saying “what is meant for you won’t pass you by!”. It reminds us how fragile love is and yet how strong it can make us. How with that person, our soul mate – our other half, we can overcome anything. For a novella this story packed a punch. It certainly isn’t one that I will be forgetting for a long time to come.

Oh yeah, did I mention that this book is free in all outlets?

I’d just like to add

Do you know how hard it is to make money out of writing books. I do, having friends in the industry it has become abundantly clear. We like to think it’s all glitz and glamour and these authors have it made. It’s so not true. The money we pay for books, in the early days even the signed authors don’t get a whole hell of a lot, even less if you are self published. We never hear them complain. They work so hard to bring us our books.

So when I heard that Colleen was releasing a Novella about Daniel and Six i was happy dancing all over my house. OK so maybe I only did that in my head but I was so bloody excited. Then hold up, it’s gonna be free?? Holy hell. You do know that everyone one of CoHo’s fans, and oh my God there are many, would have bought this book. It would have been a bestseller in record time. She would have made whatever money she would from it and been a happy little bunny. But no. Colleen wanted to say thank you to her fans. Her acknowledgement to fans is amazing. Never expected but much appreciated all the same. It doesn’t hurt that the book is pretty butterflying amazing either.

What Colleen Hoover said

I can’t count how many times I’ve been told I was insane for giving this novella away for free. Maybe so, but I’ve never been more excited about the a release as I have been about this one. I’m so thankful to be able to show my gratitude to all the readers who have supported me over the past two crazy years. This novella is for you, for completely changing my life.

Says it all really….We love you too Colleen!

What I thought
Any of you that are regular readers of this blog know that this is not my forte. I often say that I don’t ‘do’ paranormal but I suppose that this isn’t entirely true seeing that as time goes on I seem to be racking up quite a few paranormal books on my ‘bookshelf’.

This is the first book that I have read by Ashely Fontainne so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The result of this was me stopping for a quick coffee on my way home from college.at 12.30 before doing the housework, lighting the fire and having dinner ready when everyone got home at 5. What really happened was we went home at 5 to a cold messy house and I made hotdogs for dinner.

I loved Ashley’s style of writing, it’s the style I like to think I write in, though she is obviously so much better at it. Its easy to read, almost like you are having a conversation and this is another reason she is able to get you hooked so quickly and easily.

A must read for all fans of paranormal and yet a great read for those who are not a fan or only skirt around the edges. I will admit I found the start of the book a tad confusing and will even say it messed with my head a little. However the further you go in everything becomes clearer. There are a lot of twists and turns along the way and many shocks in store for the reader. Ashely Fontainne has a great knack of keeping the reader hooked.

The best interview?

Of all the interviews I have done on this blog two of them still receive hits on a daily basis. With only 10 hits between them I thought I would put it out there and see who you thought deserved to be labelled ‘Best interview of 2013’ in my end of year awards.

Did you know I was having an end of year awards? No? Me either I just decided about two lines ago 😉 The seed was actually planted back in August by the lady we all have to thank for me starting this blog, none other than Carmel Harrington.

So who do you think should win this (not so) coveted title?

The fabulous Neda from The SubClub Book Club, who just cannot fathomm that her interview was so popular! I mean, of course it was. She has one of the best blogs around for us readers that like it a bit hot 😉 To have a look at Neda’s Interview click HERE.

Mr Drake Stevenson, a character interview from The Rocker That Needs Me, by the super talented Terri Anne Browning. My first and so far only interview with a character from a book. I must admit – I was a bit skeptical but it was hugely enjoyable and well the figures speak for themselves. To read Drake’s Interview click HERE .

I can’t wait to see what you think.

The Boots My Mother Gave Me

Boots Blog Tour Banner

Brooklyn James is an author/singer/songwriter inspired by life in the Live Music Capital of Austin, Texas. This year marks the Three Year Anniversary of her first novel, The Boots My Mother Gave Me. In celebration, her camp has re-released the Anniversary Edition with a new cover (as chosen by a fan) and a new epilogue, setting up the anticipated sequel.

You can grab yourself a copy via Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

The Boots My Mother Gave Me – Brooklyn James

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]What they say:

‘Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through life in someone else’s shoes?

Strong-willed tomboy Harley LeBeau puts you in the boots her mother gave her, as she takes you along her journey of escape from an abusive childhood and the desire to find herself as she comes of age. Made to feel a burden to her father simply by her gender, Harley is determined to prove her worth and independence, leaving the small town she grew up in and the one boy who gave her a soft place to fall, Jeremiah Johnson. Torn between saving herself and abandoning her mother and younger sister, Harley chooses her own life in hopes they will choose theirs, too.

A mature, candid read for everyone. A must for women. The Boots My Mother Gave Me explores the dynamics of abuse and dysfunction, the courage to overcome, the strength in sisterhood, and the ongoing conflict and unconditional love between mothers and daughters. Climb into Charlene the Chevelle for a fast-paced story about a girl who is tough enough to survive and tender enough to learn to trust in love.’

What I say

There is nothing that I can say about this book that will do it justice. I could rave about the depth of characters, the compelling stories and the heartbreak that runs deep but still I wouldn’t be able to tell you how good this book is. Recently I have been more drawn to New Adult and books of a more erotic nature. I wasn’t even sure I would enjoy this book but I had signed up for the tour so I had to suck it up and get on with it. Charlotte Foreman, who is over seeing this Blog Tour said to me, “I wish I was reading it again for the first time”. Now I can understand why. The book is exquisite. It’s delicate, if that makes any sense. Brooklyn James had handled a story which is heartbraking with absolute care. She didn’t over dramatise when the opportunity was there. There was no embellishment to make the unthinkable even more horrific. She dealt more with feelings than the graphics.

The Boots My Mother Gave Me left me speechless and wondering how I would ever be able to have the right words to write a review. This is it putting it out there, read this book. You simply have to. It will make you dig deep and think. Brooklyn did an amazing job here and I am so glad she rereleased it for the 3 year anniversary. Otherwise I would never have read it. I am counting down time now until her next book.

KPI Records - WKYTVThe Boots My Mother Gave Me was chosen as a Quarter Finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, and has ranked in Kindle’s Top 100 Coming of Age and Women’s Fiction. Accolades for the book include a host of radio and television appearances, book signings, live music events, televised public readings and a music video release of the title track ‘Can’t Get It Right’ from the original music soundtrack to the novel, viewable on YouTube.

“Brooklyn James’ soundtrack to her novel The Boots My Mother Gave Me does more than give a clever feminist twist to the title. Her songs serve as chapters themselves, underlining James’ deft ability as a storyteller and songwriter.” – Margaret Moser, The Austin Chronicle.

DFW Romance Book SignAuthor Bio:

Brooklyn holds an M.A. in Communication, and a B.S. in both Nursing and Animal Science. Her nursing career has seen specialties in the areas of Intensive Care and Labor & Delivery/Postpartum, which she’s hoping will come in handy as she and her handsome hubby (the inspiration behind Jeremiah Johnson from The Boots My Mother Gave Me) are expecting their first child this Christmas. You can read about such experiences on Brooklyn’s Blog, if you fancy.

A self-professed Jack-of-all-trades, she has enjoyed careers in massage therapy, personal training, teaching, day labor at a cattle company (doing everything on horseback, the old-fashioned ‘cowboy’ way), radio DJ, TV news writer and reporter, waitress, bartender, even amateur actor. To date, her most fun experiences in front of the camera have been starring in a Weezer video, being a ‘stand-in’ for Mira Sorvino on the set of TNT’s Trooper, and as background in When Angels Sing with Harry Connick Jr. Brooklyn says he couldn’t have been more of a gentleman and oh so swoon-worthy!

She takes great pleasure in performing as part of an acoustic duo in the local live music scene in Austin. Got a little video here from a set at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Her hobbies include, spending time with family and friends, dancing until her feet are sore, weight lifting, running, paddleboarding (anything outdoors really), reading, watching The Big Bang Theory and anything on The History Channel, partaking of a good cup of Joe and trying out new and local food fare. Brooklyn also serves as a guest speaker from time to time with a focus on awareness and prevention of domestic violence and suicide, a cause near and dear to her heart.

Thank you so much for being so kind to take the time to check out my blog hop! Light & Love – Brooklyn James.

What it’s all about

I was the fun loving, easy going, different girl—okay, different girls every night—Demon. One look into a pair of violet eyes and all of that changed. She doesn’t even realize how beautiful she is and that makes me want her even more. Realizing that she is just as damaged as I am breaks my heart. Harper is a part of me, my other half. If only she would open her incredible eyes and see how I feel… The Beauty… I knew that I wasn’t Shane Stevenson’s type. Hot rockers don’t go for plain girls like me. Years of my mother telling me just how unbeautiful I am has assured me of that. I have nothing to offer a guy that is so used to hot girls drooling over him. So why is he always there when I turn around? And why does it feel like little needles piercing my heart at the mere thought of him with someone else?

My thoughts

Oh sweet divine mother of Christ. Terri Anne Browning. How do you do it? My insides are churning even thinking of this story. I am not going to go into the plot. This is book 4 and I sure as hell don’t want to be giving anything away or spoiling previous books. After Drake’s story you would be forgiven for thinking that the story had reached its peak. I mean have you read Drake’s story? If not, why not?? Make sure to start at the beginning though with Emmie’s story. Anyhoo back to the point. The Rocker That Loves Me certainly was not any form of an anti climax, step back or toned down effort. It was f*&^ing awesome. AWESOME. Fanfreakingtastic. Oh my God I loved this story.

It was emotional, heartbreaking, hot, steamy, angsty, soft, gentle or as my dad would say “powerful gripping stuff”. I need Nik’s story like yesterday. I don’t know how we are meant to wait. I want steam coming off Terri’s fingers. Come on Terri you gotta hurry!!

A couple of teasers?

Harper

“I’m yours, Harper. And you are mine.”
I blinked, unable to understand his words at first. “What?”
“I belong to you. Tell me you know that.”
My breath felt like it was trapped in my lungs all of a sudden. “Shane… I…”
“I love you, baby.”
Tears burnt my eyes and I quickly blinked them away. “Don’t say that.”
“Why not?” he asked softly.
“Because… Because…” I broke off, not completely sure why he shouldn’t say those words to me. “Because I want to believe you.”

Shane

“Still scared?” she murmured, tracing her nails up and down the length of my stiff shaft.
Reaching out, I cupped her beautiful face. “Terrified,” I assured her with complete sincerity.
I flipped Harper onto her back. We fit just as I knew we would—perfectly. The way she spread her legs for me, so trusting. My cock fit like a missing puzzle piece against her. The way those incredible breasts pushed against my chest. She was my other half, and I was going to show her just how perfect we were for each other.
I wanted to tell her. The need to make promises that I intended to keep to my last breath was almost overwhelming. I knew she wasn’t ready to hear them. So I showed her instead.

A Little Too Far

Tour Banner

Today I am taking part in the Blog Tour for A Little Too Far by Lisa Desrochers.

Cover

What it’s about

Have you ever gone just a little too far?
Lexie Banks has.
Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for better part of the last few years…and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome. But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to Confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt…and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy on the eyes deacon…only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

I must admit when I first read the blurb for this book I was worried. I thought for part it sounded too much like another very popular book even with a similar name and wondered was it going to play out along the same lines. Answer, No.

A Little Too Far is an emotional read. It is a sexy read. The book is hot. Not only that though it has stuff going on beneath the surface. It has its dark elements which gives the story a bit of grit to keep you hooked.

I actually saw it described as a cross between Thornbirds and Flowers in the Attic and I am a big fan of both.

Looking at the blurb of this book you might not feel the pull but take my word for it, pick it up and give it a whirl. I doubt you will be disappointed.

ALTF

A Little Too Far is a great read that will certainly warm you up on these cold wintery nights.

So when Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview, Jane agrees—as long as her personal life is completely off-limits.

British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. Maid of Dishonor

Maid of Dishonor

Maid of Dishonor

When she’s very, very bad……

Gina Carrington knows exactly how to have fun! But when she sleeps with her friend’s brother, the off-limits Carter, she quickly discovers she’s overstepped the mark.

……life is so much more fun!

Years later, Gina sees Carter again to prepare for her friend’s wedding, and she can’t help but wonder what the harm would be in one more night…. He’s available, gorgeous and behind that laid-back Southern charm there’s a wild side even she can’t tame! But Gina has secrets which she can’t hide forever—will their chemistry be strong enough to keep Carter by her side when her secrets come to light?

My third foray into the Mills and Boon world. Maid of Dishonor by Heidi Rice is the thirs book in The Wedding Season from the new Mills and Book Modern Tempted line. Tempted? You should be.

Maid of Dishonor is a story with a lot of elements. You have Gina feeling guilty for her mistake a decade earlier when she slept with Carter Price. The brother of one of her best friends – Marnie. He was also due to get married in the following weeks and was ‘saving himself’ for his wife. Gina has always felt a bit guilty and sets about apologising. Carter thinking this is hillarious laughs at her and assures her the the eventual collapse of his marriage had nothing to do with her and in fact, if anything, she helped to show him who he really was.

However the intervening years were not easy for Gina. She had her own problems after that fateful night at Hillbrook and it has taken years to come to terms with the repercussions.

However that meeting one decade one shows one thing, the chemistry they shared hasn’t died and if anything they are more attracted to each other than ever.

Someone said to me the other day – Mills and Boon are still producing books? Like seriously?? My reply was Go read them!! I am telling anyone who will listen about this Modern Tempted line and in particular The Wedding Season. I think so far this has been my favourite of the four books. Its sassy, sexy and definitely holds depth. I think I could in part relate with Gina, having also lacked quality control in my teens – so to speak. Also being unfortunate to suffer a miscarraige I think I could relate to her in more ways that one.

Gina is a very strong character and has, in Carter, met her match. I love the sniping between them, it only adds to the chemistry. Even with all that hidden depth the story is fun, flirty and most definitely has spunk. It was so good I couldn’t put it down and I don’t think it would be physically possible for me to read it any faster. It was so good that I had to go straight away and buy Kimberly Lang’s The Last Groom Standing, the last book in the series. I want these ladies to come together and write more!!

I will be looking out for my titles by the wonderful Heidi Rice.

So here I am, another blog tour and another genre that I don’t normally read but hey sometimes you just have to take a step out of your box, don’t you!

What it’s all about

What sacrifice is too dear when the reward is eternal love?

Disillusioned Afterlife bounty hunter, Sean Martino, is transferred to the Probation Department, where he counsels recent suicide attempters by sending them subliminal messages while they’re asleep. But he’s unprepared to match wits with former child star, Isabelle Fichetti.

It’s not every day a woman gets to date a dead man. Although Sean’s appearance in her life isn’t exactly a dream-come-true for Isabelle, she likes having him around for scintillating conversation and trips to faraway places–all while never leaving her bed. Still, after years of abuse and abandonment, and with no rosy future to look forward to, she’s not about to give up on her plan to kill herself just because he asks.

After breaking the rules one too many times, Sean is cut off from all contact with Isabelle, but not before providing her with a reason to live. Now, she’ll choose the path her future takes and confront her greatest fear. Alone.

Unless Sean can find a way to fight for her from the other side…

Paranormal is generally a no go area for me. I however signed on for this blog tour before checking the genre. Right there and then when that thought struck me I just knew that it was going to be a paranormal book.

HOWEVER I have to say it wasn’t what I have in my head for a paranormal and it really was very enjoyable. And its funny because the only other paranormal I have ever read was the Jamie McGuire Providence series and to say I loved that is an understatement so I really don’t know where my reluctance to read them comes from.

I suppose it was the story itself and not the genre that was the positive aspect here. I do tend to jusge a book before reading it based on cover, genre etc. But I guess when the story is good as it was in this case then it doesn’t really matter what genre provides the base.

Anyhow, who is to say that this can’t happen. I do believe I have been passed messages in my sleep. So maybe that was another bonus point. Either way if you are a fan of paranormal this book is a must read and if you aren’t well maybe just maybe you might consider giving this one a chance 😉

About Gina Ardito

I think I’m getting the impression that Gina is funny gal!!

Non-Standard Bio
Gina Ardito
I kill houseplants. There. Now you know one of my greatest shames. I’m not boasting. I just figure that if you’re reading this, you’re looking for more than how wonderful life is as a writer. So here are a few more of my flaws:
I sing all the time. I sing in the car. In the shower. While I’m grocery shopping. And I headbop while I sing. When I’m not singing, I talk to myself. Just ignore me and move on. You get used to it after a while.
I don’t eat my vegetables. Seriously. I’d rather have a cookie.
I’m extremely fair-skinned and could burn under a 60-watt light bulb.
I can’t sleep without background noise. If it’s too dark and too quiet, all I have are my thoughts. And even *I* don’t want to be alone with my thoughts.
Don’t ask me to Zumba, line dance, or march in the parade. I have absolutely no rhythm.
Regrets. I have more than a few.
My favorite activity is sleep. I don’t clock a lot of hours, but I powernap like a Persian cat and rejuvenate within ten minutes.
I consider shopping and dining out excellent therapy for anything wrong in my life.
My feet are always cold. Always. My husband claims it’s because I’m an alien sent to Earth to destroy him. (He might be right about that.)
Coming to my house for a visit? Unless you’ve given me plenty of advance notice, be prepared. My floor will not be vacuumed, there will be dishes in my sink, and I only make my bed when I change the sheets once a week (I’m climbing back into it ASAP. Why make it?) Housecleaning is not high on my priority list. Okay, to be totally honest, it’s not on the list at all.
I can resist anything…except ice cream.
Since this is our first date, I figure I’ve revealed enough secrets for now. But if you’ve read this bio and think I might be the author for you, pick up one of my books or stalk my website: http://www.ginaardito.com and my personal blog: http://ginaardito.blogspot.com.
