The Rocker That Holds Me – The Rocker Series #1

I signed up for a Blog Tour happening from August 24th. I received the ARC the other day and as I was carrying out author and character interviews and they had to be submitted today so I attempted to get down to business. In true Tanya style I realised that this was the third book in a series. The fabulous girls over at TheSubClubBooks (the first blog I followed when I started all of this) said it was ok that it could be read as a stand alone. I already hopped on and bought Terri Anne Browning‘s The Rocker That Holds Me (not available of Kobo 😦 had to read on my phone) and The Rocker That Savours Me. Well what I didn’t realise is that I was in for such a treat. With a day and a half to read all three I decided to get stuck in…

The Rocker That Holds Me

The rocker that hold me

Touring with four rockers is the thing of dreams…

At least that is what people tell me. To me those four rockers are my family. They have watched over me from the time I was five years old. Protecting me from my mother and her drunken, drug addict rages. When they made it big they still watched over me. And when my monster of a mother died they took over as my guardians.

In the six years since that happened I have watched over the four men that
mean everything to me. I take care of them just as they once took care of me. I handle all the dirty work behind the scenes of a rockers life. It isn’t always pretty. At times it came be damn near disgusting, especially when I have to get rid of their one night stands. Ugh!

Taking care of them doesn’t bother me though. I mean it’s not like I’m in love with one of them. That would be crazy. Falling for a rocker is NOT smart.

Okay, so I’m not smart. I love my guys, and one of them kind of holds my heart in his big old rocker hand. But I’m dealing. I’ve been able to keep it my little secret for years now.
I’m not, however, dealing with this bug that I seem to have caught. It scares the hell out of me. I hate doctors, but I’m suddenly more worried about finding out what is wrong with me than what the doctor might do to me.

When I get my test results back my life will never be the same again…

Emmie has been through some shit in her life. A mother who was a junkie, whore and all round bitch. I could think of a better word but I’m a lady 😉 She was very lucky when she was growing up to have Nik, Jesse, Drake and Shane there to look after her. They couldn’t stop what was happening to her but they would make sure to make sure she was OK afterwards, to feed and clothe her and make sure none of her wounds became infected. It wasn’t often a group of teenaged lads would look after a little girl. If they called someone she would be lost in the system. It was better to live in an ongoing nightmare than to be sent to hell.

Years later and the bitch is dead. The boys are famous rock stars and take Emmie under their wing. SHe goes on tour with the boys and although the band has a manager, she is the personal manager. They want it, she gets it. She makes sure they have everything they could possibly need. She even goes so far as to get rid of their skanks the next day.

Don’t get me wrong, she does this out of love not for money and not for the glamour that’s for damn sure. They boys or ‘my guys’ as she refers to them look after her too. These big burly rock stars turn into pussy cats in her presence. They would do anything for her ans her for them.

So when Emmie gets sick and is rushed to hospital the shit is about to hit the fan. When they find out what is wrong with her the whole band dynamic shifts and two people’s lives are going to change forever.

Loved Loved Loved this book. Its short, more of a novella. It, however, still manages to pack a punch. You will actually get so caught up in it you will even start to feel nervous, sick and even the joy of the characters. This isn’t the first book I have read about rock stars, in fact it is becoming a bit of a habit! I love it, I love reading about the life on the road, the lifestyle of the rockers and even finding out that there is much more to them that what we read in the papers!

If you like the books with a more explicit content this is definitely one for you! It costs less that a bag of chips! (fries if you are in the US lol). You may as well buy book 2 while you are at it. You will want to dive right in!!
