A Hot series that has just come to my attention

This series has just come to my attention. Normally I wouldn’t be suggesting something that I myself haven’t read yet, however this has been suggested to me by several people – all whose opinions I greatly respect. So being the nice person that I am I decided to share the love.

These books while part of a series, can be read as a stand alone.

WIld

What it’s all about

An independent woman, a controlling man, and one wild one-night stand…

Kat Kennedy moved to the rugged coast of Maine to start a new life, but encountered much more than she bargained for in dark, dangerous, and seductive Lane Wild.

Desire and temptation smolder before she succumbs to her darkest fantasies with the captivating stranger. She doesn’t expect to see him again after an explosive one-night stand leaves her breathless and craving more, but just like lightning in the darkness, he shows up in her life at the most unpredictable moments.

A sensual game of cat and mouse ensues before the attraction between them reaches a fever pitch—the magnetism combustible, the sexual tension nearly unbearable—and Kat finally abandons inhibition and explores the cunning, selfish, and sexual side of a world she’s never known.

They have the perfect non-relationship—passion-fueled nights with no strings attached—until life gets real and the past and present collide in a dangerous storm of lust and obsession.

What it’s all about

Sometimes doing the wrong thing feels so right…

I’m a player. I’m an asshole. I’m someone you should stay away from.

I have demons.
I’ve made mistakes.
And the biggest can’t be taken back.

I’ve gone to hell and back in twenty-nine years and I’m only now coming to terms with moving forward, righting my wrongs, and making amends. Except not everyone deserves forgiveness. Sometimes the damage done is beyond repair.
Everyday is exactly the same. I focus on the pain, in the quest to feel and forget, but I remember everything. When I close my eyes the darkness encroaches and some days it feels like the things that kill me are the things that make me feel alive.

*Ridge, like Wild, is a standalone.
Reading Wild first will provide some back story, but is not required to read Ridge.

Down to You

Down to You

The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not. Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white. But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.

Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her. Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.

Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them. Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire. She wants them both. And they want her. How will she ever choose between them?

OK I have had this book in my reader for so long. I kept saying I was going to read it but something would come up and I would forget. I would see Michelle Leighton pop up on Facebook or Twitter and i would think “oh yeah, I HAVE to read that!” A friend of mine, Ruth, keeps saying Tan read it you will love it. SO…. I was on Facebook (a rarity ;)) on Friday morning and I see THAT picture. I’m no prude but I think I blushed! I had just finished reading a book and although I had another lined up to start and review, well there was no way I could ignore the urge to read Down to You and Up to Me after that!

You didn’t see it? Mmmmm I suppose I could show you. Ready for it?

(Totally robbed from Facebook, not my work. I stole it from LipSmackin GoodBooks)

THAT pic

See what I mean??

The book did not disapppoint either!!

How do you make the impossible choice? One boy is everything you think you want and the other is everything you think you need. When she is with Cash her heart is telling her he is the one she wants, his every touch is sending her into a frenzy. If only he could be a little more like Nash. When she is with Nash her head is telling her that he is the one she needs, if only he were a little more bad boy like Cash. If only she could melt the two of them and roll them into one!

This is the best love triangle I think I have ever read. Normally you are rooting for one boy over the other but not this time. Michelle Leighton has done such a good job that we fall in love with both boys and root for both of them. We want them both to win, we want Olivia to have the best of both worlds. If only it were possible..

As I said I started to read this on Friday morning and finished it on Friday evening. I wasn’t just glued to it I was welded to it. I couldn’t even hold a conversation with Brian in the car as I had my head in the reader. A compulsive storyline with a hell of a lot of sexy thrown in!

I just started Up to Me this morning, again I have had it for a while. I don’t think it will be long before I have that review popping up!

If ever there was a book written for the big screen…

Have you ever read a book and thought this HAS to be made into a movie? Sure there are a few books that I have read and have been delighted to hear that they are being made into a movie. However, at the weekend, I read a book by Ella Frank. The book was Blind Obsession and it was quite simply amazing. Around half way through the book the thought struck me – I need to see this as a movie. The story was intense, sexy and it sure as hell wasn’t your run of the mill romance.

The only problem is – they do tend to screw up when they convert a book to a movie. Think P.S I love you, Marley and Me, The Lovely Bones, Flowers in the Attic – I could go on. All movies I was looking forward to seeing, I loved the books. All movies that left me sorely disappointed. It of course doesn’t stop me from looking forward to future adaptations, including that of course of the much-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James and I am particularly excited to see the story of Abby and Travis in the movie of Beautiful Disaster by Best Selling Author Jamie McGuire. Of course they do not always do it wrong, they have on occasion got it just right. I really enjoyed the movie version of The Blind Side by Michael Lewis – I think the essence of the book was captured wonderfully. The Help by Kathryn Stockett has also been described as a wonderful adaptation.

However as I said, while I was reading Blind Obsession I couldn’t help but want to see it on-screen. Of course the true character of the book would have to be portrayed. The intensity that was enveloped in the book was just that – a character in itself, without it the book just wouldn’t quite be the same. When i Tweeted this the author herself, Ella Frank, also said that “The intensity and emotion would need to be kept”. Sure, in my opinion, without these and the sexy nature of the book – it would be a whole different story.

Blind Obsession

Obsession, defined as the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image or desire….

Chantel Rosenberg’s passion for music and life had never shone brighter than the time she spent in Bordeaux France. It’s a time when feelings arose and desires ran deep, a time that fundamentally changed her life.

A man living in seclusion, Phillipe Tibideau is haunted and plagued by memories he cannot disregard. Choosing to live a quiet life in his Chateau surrounded by the vineyards of France, he’s left his passion for art behind.

However, the time has arrived to tell his side of a tale. A tale that has depicted him as a ‘beautiful monster’ and he’s finally allowing someone close.

Close enough to ask questions. Questions he’s not sure he wants to answer. Questions about her.

For up and coming journalist Gemma Harris, the pursuit of truth is what drives her and when a job of a lifetime presents itself there is nothing in the world that will stop her from taking it. Even if it does mean leaving her home for several months to stay at Chateau Tibideau, with him.

This is a story of what happens when three passionate lovers collide and the desire for truth, art and music merge.

Chateau Tibideau is a place full of unanswered questions, dark sinful desire and a beauty so hauntingly sad it will have you wondering how you will ever leave the same….

You may completly ‘get’ this book or it may mess with your mind, it messed with my mind and i loved it. My favourite words in the book were “mindfuck” cos it described the book to a T. It’s a book that gets right inside your head and has you asking questions…it evokes a reaction. Isn’t that the best type of book?

Have you read a book that you thought should be made into a movie? What do you think are the best and worst adaptations?

Exquisite & Entice

Exquisite

Exquisite

Here Ella Frank introduces us to Dr. Lena O’Donnell and Mason Langley, Smokin’ hot doctor and Chicago’s most eligible bachelor and renowned playboy.

Mason gets under Lena’s skin even before they come face to face. Lena is tough on the exterior, but really she is just guarded. She is hiding years of heartache, grief and harbouring a great deal of guilt. Lena was driving when she was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed the life of her sister. Now she can’t let anyone break down her walls. Mason is the owner of Chicago’s hottest restaurant – Exquisite.

Lena’s work is her life. She goes to work, goes home then goes to work again. She lives a lonely life but as far as she is concerned that’s all she deserves – after all her sister has no life at all. On the other hand Mason Langley has the life that he wants, at least he thought he did. While delivering a bunch of Flowers as a favour to his mother Mason barges into the life of Lena. The pair doesn’t exactly hit it off, in fact quite the opposite and if anything Lena may have been happy to hit HIM. However after a chance meeting later that night at Exquisite the pair come to a truce of sorts.

The pair are drawn together and they discover an explosive sexual relationship, and Mason is determined to know Lena – all of her. The good, bad and the utterly heartbreaking. Everything is going along nicely and the pair have an amazing relationship. Then the unthinkable happens and tragedy strikes again. Lena’s world, for the second time, is turned upside down , due to her love and loyalty to another person. She finds herself all alone again and comes to the conclusion that her heart is safer is things stay that way. Not so sure her heart feels the same way though…

I have been following Ella Frank on Twitter for quite some time, I have seen Exquisite come up in my feed countless times. So I decided the time had come, I was going to read it and see what all the hype was about. Well I must say, all the hype – was well justified. Exquisite was … well Exquisite. It is a fantastic story, but much more than that it was a story well told. It is possible to read a good book and appreciate it as such, but a fantastic book is the one you can’t put down. it sucks you in and the lines of reality start to blur. What do I mean by this? I mean when I turn around to my husband and start to tell him a story about a friend and then think ‘shit, no that’s that book I’m reading’. That was Exquisite for me.

I was quite emotional reading this book, some of the story hit close to home for me, and other parts really too close to home. I admired the way Ella Frank walked us through the story and especially with Lena’s grief and he vulnerability over her sister’s death. I loved the way she developed the relationship between Lena and Mason to be about more than just sex and how he helped Lena face her problems and understand that her sister’s death was not her fault and bring her to the point that she felt she could visit her sisters grave. As I said emotional reading and it certainly struck a chord with me.

No need to take only my word for it, I was browsing through some of the comments on Goodreads and I am most certainly not alone.

Karla said: “4 1/2 Shiny Debut Stars!! Ella Frank is in the house…watch out…she is a force to be reckoned with!! There are seasoned authors that don’t write this well…Impressive!”

Alyssa wrote: “Ella Frank’s debut novel Exquisite was masterfully written. This contemporary romance was anything but the usual run-of-the-mill, it was angsty, deeply moving, and incredibly sexy that had me pulling at so many different emotions, from literally bawling at one moment to laughing in the next.” Oh me too Alyssa, me too.

I highly recommend this book as your next read. You can get it from Kobo, Amazon, Barnes and Noble

Entice

Entice

Entice picks up where Exquisite left off, though this time we are following the story of Lena’s best friend and fellow doctor, Dr Shelly Monroe and Mason’s Best friend Joshua Daniels. Shelly and Lena have been best friends since starting work in the same hospital years before. Shelly featured in Exquisite so she isn’t new to us. Joshua is Mason’s best friend who has recently moved home to Chicago following the break up of a relationship.

Shelly is used to getting what she wants. She is a beautiful woman who is highly successful in her career. That doesn’t come without a fair amount of confidence to back it up. She doesn’t however want Joshua Daniels. He is absolutely the farthest thing from what she wants. Now if she could get the organs below the neck to get on the same page as her, then she would be getting places. So far the only place her body wants to get is into Josh Daniels’ pants.

Shelly knows what she needs, a man with a good steady job, financially independent – she’s had enough losers sponging off her to last a life time. When she see’s Mason she see’s everything she is trying to avoid. He’s a contractor, he could be sent to work anywhere – she is looking for stability. She has made up her mind about him and she doesn’t know the half of it. She doesn’t know he is every bit as financially stable as she is, she also doesn’t know that he isn’t just working for the company – he owns it. Either way they can’t get out of each others heads and after yet another date that’s as dull as dishwater the two embark on a journey that see’s them become friends with benefits – no strings attached sex. Oh ya – in complete secrecy. After all they don’t want their respective best friends to find out.

Yeah as you can imagine, that doesn’t quite go as planned and we are brought through the highs and the lows of two people trying to find out if they can work as a couple. When Shelly uses him to try to make a point with her controlling over bearing father, who as far as she is concerned has treated her mother like dirt, things take an unfortunate turn.

Can the two get on the same page, work things out and each be what the other needs? Will they work through their problems, can Shelly finally find out whats been going on in the family home and lay some old ghosts to rest?

Will love conquer all?

I honestly cannot decide which book I enjoyed more! I read the two books in three days so I suppose one rolled into the other for me. While Exquisite dealt with some deep and emotional story lines, Entice had its own heart-rending stories. The girl who seems to have it all, but really that heartbroken girl is still in there, trying to deal with ‘the sins of the father’. She thinks she knows things about her mother and fathers relationship while she doesn’t really know what is going on and it’s not until she has a bust up with her father and then a heart to heart with her mother that she finds out whats really been going on for all of these years.

It’s really interesting to read the story of a woman who keeps going after a particular type of man because that is the type of man she should be with, instead of looking for the man who makes her feel the way she should. It’s also refreshing to read about a man who knows what he wants and prepared to get it, without all the whips and flogger 😉 (not that we haven’t enjoyed all of that too).

What I really can’t wait for is Rachel’s story. I think she is a little firecracker. I’m sure there will be a few surprises in her story too, and I can’t help but think a certain lawyer is going to feature in there somewhere!

Again let’s see a few quotes from others:

Becky *Must have HEA* writes: “This book has…

The best!

Sexual tension!

And chemistry!

EVER!!!!!!!!!”

Renee says: Who is ready to read some smexy and minxy stuff about realistic people with relatable issues?

Order Entice on Kobo, Amazon, Barnes and Noble

Again I have been very privileged to have an interview with the author of the books I am reviewing. Ella Frank fabulously well thought out, detailed and honest answers and I would like to take the opportunity to thank her for this, so Thank you so very much xx
While I hope you enjoy the interview I am off to open page one of Ella’s new book, Blind Obsession which is out now!

Ella Frank

Who is Ella Frank?

Hmm let’s see. Ella Frank is a happily married Australian who currently lives in the USA with her loving husband. She is the youngest daughter to two wonderful parents and little sister to her big sis KT.

When did you know you were a writer?

I’ve loved writing ever since I could start reading. I really started when I was around sixteen though. I would write love stories and make my friends read them.

I have just read and loved Exquisite and Entice, when can your readers expect Edible?

Thank you so much for that, I’m glad you enjoyed them. Edible should be ready to release this Summer.

Mason was desirable but then in Entice you introduced Josh. Which of the men would you have a softer spot for?

That’s a really hard question, only because I love both of the men in their own way. These guys both play a large role in book three and although we know a lot about Mason, we get to find out more about the relationships between Josh, Mason and Rachel – being that they grew up together – and I love that.

This is the second time I have been made hungry by books. The first being Elizabeth Reyes’ Moreno Brothers series. Do you have a love of food or was it just a story line?

I love food! I really love to eat, actually I have been told I get mean when I am hungry (shh don’t tell anyone). In all honesty, I took two years in a culinary course and was thinking about working in a restaurant for a while. Obviously that changed but my love of food stuck around.

Entice had me in tears by page 55. Though it did strike close to home, so am I just a sap or have you heard of it making other people emotional?

It’s funny you say that about Entice because most people tell me that Exquisite is the book that made them cry. I always want to try and make my characters complex and usually that means they have flaws, and for Shelly her flaws developed due to her family situation. While it wasn’t death it was painful and difficult just the same. I don’t think you’re a sap, I think you related and that’s what you hope to achieve with at least one reader and I am glad I accomplished that with you.
I of course got my question wrong and it was indeed Exquisite that had me a blubbering mess!

I thought you approached and dealt with the issue of Lena not visiting her sister’s grave extremely well, do you think you may have helped others cope who face a similar dilemma?

Honestly I am not sure. I did receive a beautiful letter from a reader who expressed to me how moved she was by the way Lena was portrayed in dealing with her guilt and the scenes in the cemetery. She went on to explain that she had experienced the same kind of guilt after the loss of a person very near and dear to her. Everyone reacts differently to grief, for Lena it was guilt, for Mason it was anger.

Rachel seems like a little firecracker, are you having fun writing her story?

Yes! Oh my gosh. I love writing this story. I think a lot of people think they know Rachel but I feel like she will surprise them. She ended up a little lost in Entice, trying new things. She just needs someone to set her straight and I think I have the perfect man that will do just that.

I giggled like a school girl reading both books but I found with Entice that I was sitting in a cafe with a Latte with people looking at me sideways. Do people tell you how refreshing it is to have a bit of humor laced through the story?

Yes I have heard that they love the relationships between the characters especially the sarcasm and snark. It’s funny because I don’t particularly see myself as funny, but I am sarcastic. It may be the lowest form of humor but hey, it’s still humor right?

What was your favorite book of last year?

Hands down it was Slammed and the irony of that is I don’t usually read YA/NA and had that book for months and when I finally read it, I like everyone devoured it and then cried like a blubbering idiot.

I have a list of books that I am waiting on to be released this year, with Edible been added to the list, are there any books that you are holding out for?

The only one I was really holding out for was definitely Lover at Last – but I have since got my BDB fix and I am now waiting patiently for the next installment next year.

What three luxuries can you not live without?

My ipad, I never thought I would say this (my phone), the internet!

Do you have a life motto?

Never settle for what you think is the only way. If there is something you want to do, something that makes you happy you should try and do it. We only get one go around in this life.

What would you describe as your best and worst qualities?

Best quality? I am a very happy, positive person. Worst quality? I can be too impulsive.

Who is your favorite book boy?

I really love the men from the Black Dagger Brotherhood – JR Ward

Finally, what book would you recommend that people HAVE to read?

It’s a toss up between the Outlander Series by Diana Gabalden and The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward

Sinners on tour!

Join Rock Group ‘Sinners’ on tour! Meet the 5 Rockers – Brian ‘Master’ Sinclair, Sedric Lionheart, Jace Seymour, Eric Sticks and Trey Mills.

Each book in the series follows one of the band members starting with Brian ‘Master’ Sinclair in Backstage Pass.
Backstage Pass

Dr. Myrna Evans is a ‘Sex Doctor’ presenting at a conference full of stuffed shirts that are boring the life out of her. On her way back to her room she spots a table of boisterous men in the bar, men who couldn’t look any more out of place. Men who look right up her street! She decides to approach them when realisation hits her, no way – it couldn’t be, could it? Myrna finds herself smack bang in the middle the rock band she idolizes, a group that she knows everything about. Fending off advances from all the members, there is only one she has her sights on – Brian ‘Master’ Sinclair.
It seems the two just can’t get enough of each other and as Myrna joins the band on tour for a month to do a study on what it is about Rock Stars that makes girls so promiscuous, we follow Myrna’s relationship with both sides of Brian Sinclair. Brian Sinclair and Master Sinclair, the man behind the make up and the performer on stage.
With more than one skeleton lurking in the cupboards in this relationship, can the pair make it?

Rock Hard

Rock hard

Sedric Lionheart is the Lead Singer of ‘Sinners’. The guy with the big onstage persona and an even bigger ego. Never mind a different girl every night – there are often several of them, and at the same time. A real use them, abuse them and chuck them aside when you are finished with them kind of guy. In Backstage Pass we got to know that guy and we all had our own opinions on him. Man whore, really. However, we were seeing Sed from others eyes, in Rock Hard we are seeing the world from Sed’s own point of view, and of course it’s just not as simple as that. The man had his heart-broken and has vowed that is never going to happen again. What he didn’t count on however is spying Jessica, the very girl who broke his heart working in a Vegas Strip Club. He loses the plot and a fight erupts. The subsequent events result in Jessica ending up on the Tour bus for the rest of the summer. Can Sed snap out of his perpetual asshole persona and make amends?, Does Jessica even care anymore? Who really was the wronged party? When tempers frey you can the passion flare, and there is only one place it is going to eruept…The bedroom. While they seem more than compatible between the sheets will they ever be able to settle their differences out of them?

Double Time
Double time

Trey Mills is the Bi-Sexual Rhythm Guitarist. He is harbouring a secret love for Brian, a love that not only isn’t reciprocated but Brian isn’t even aware of. His best friend, his confident, the man he loves – Brian is slowly slipping away from him as he settles into his new life and the roles that come with it. Trey is finding it hard to adjust. When Trey’s brother Dare, Lead guitarist with huge rock band ‘Exodus End’ asks him to sit in on auditions for a new Rhythm Guitarist he goes along, best friend Brian is caught up in his ‘new life’ and he has nothing better to do. When he listens to one of the blind auditions he is pole axed. He thinks they are playing games with him – he is listening to Brian play, Is Brian leaving Sinners? In a panic he bursts into the studio to find a girl playing, Reagan. Has he found Brian in the female form?

Reagan joins Sinners for the last leg of the present tour to get a taste of life on tour before beginning her first tour with Exodus End. A world apart from where she was a week ago, working in a coffee-house for a sleazy boss, she learns life on the road. Beginning a relationship with Trey, she really is living the dream. Can Trey be happy in a monogamous relationship? Can he really ignore the part of him that craves intimacy with a man? Reagan had been betrayed before when she found her ex, Ethan, with a man – so Trey believes there is no way he can be 100% honest with her.

Things take a sinister turn when Reagan starts getting threatening letters and has no idea who they are from. Luckily her best friend, who also happens to be the ex-boyfriend has been signed on as her body-guard. While he vows to get to the bottom of it he struggles with his attraction to Trey. Add this to the fact that it is a mutual attraction and that Ethan is STILL in love with Reagan and Trey is STILL in love with Brian, you can only wonder how the hell they are going to sort this one out!

Sweet Holy Divine!!
I have read the Fifty Shades Trilogy (who hasn’t, right?), Sylvia Day’s Bared to you and Reflected in you but nothing in this world would have prepared me for, or came close to Sinners on tour!

Close your mouth Tanya you are catching flies! Flies? My mouth was gaping so bloody wide I swear a bus could have driven in there! It’s not that I was shocked, no scratch that I WAS SHOCKED. I had never read anything like this, and I couldn’t get enough. Maybe I just live a sheltered life? Well I don’t mind telling you – I am happy to live vicariously through Olivia Cunning and her penmanship!

The books aren’t just sex though. Yes there is a lot of sex BUT there are amazing stories in there too. An insight into the lives and loves of famous rock stars, the people you think have it all. At the end of the day they are people too. While each book is centred on a particular band member it also tracks the other members so you get to keep up with what is going on or continue their journey after we have read their story. There are many layers to each of the characters in Olivia Cunning’s books, not just the band members themselves but to the girls they love (or boys!), the Roadies and the other important people in their lives.

The books are jam-packed with sex, not just your average sex either, but the type that is going to make you blush and look around to see who is watching you and wondering if they can read what is going on in your mind (God i hope not!), but also love, hurt, angst, fear, friendship and loyalty.

Yes this book is probably best described as erotic – but there is a hell of a story inside! If you are prudish, easily offended or just don’t like reading about kinky (and not just a little bit) sex, then it isn’t the book for you. You need an open mind, and if it’s a little bit in the gutter – well that will help too!

If any one would like a visual or to know a bit more about each of the characters visit http://www.sinnersontour.com

Less than 2 weeks until Hot Ticket is released, Bring it on! Only, a day later when the last page has been turned the wait will be on again!

Olivia Cunning was good enough to let me interview her – like she isn’t busy enough! I hope you enjoy her answers and a glimpse into what is to come!

olivia cunning

Who is Olivia Cunning?

The much cooler version of a shy, midwestern Army brat who is a bit of an adrenaline junkie and wanted to be a lead guitarist when she grew up. Writing books about lead guitarists and their bandmates is close enough to living that dream, especially since my fingers are too stubby to play the guitar well.

Sinners on Tour is based on a Rock band, is this the type of music you are interested in?

I listen almost exclusively to rock, mostly heavy metal. I don’t think your work can be really authentic if you don’t love what you write about.

What research did you have to carry out about life on the road, roadies and groupies?

Unfortunately it’s all been books, videos and rockumentary research. And I have a VERY vivid imagination.

Do you find since Fifty Shades of Grey women are more open to reading this type of book and do you think the demand has increased?

I had a decent following of dedicated fans before FSoG became popular, but since it became such a huge sensation, I would say yes, more women are open to reading erotic romance. From what I’ve been told, my books are more explicit than the FSoG series. I haven’t read them, so that statement is conjecture.

What genre would you label the books as?

Humorous rock star erotic romance, heavy on the erotic.

Do any of the characters names hold any special meaning to you?

I worked with a woman named Myrna who was pretty much the polar opposite of the Myrna in Backstage Pass, so the character isn’t based on her. I just stole her name. But other than Brian, who if you know who inspired that character, that name will make sense *wink* the names just come to me when I’m writing. And sometimes not right away. Sometimes a character is named Girl-1 or GuitaristDude for half the book, until the right name comes to me. No character went through as many name changes as did Reagan in Double Time. I think I changed her name about 10 times, but Reagan is the proper fit.

Who was your favourite character to write for?

Whichever one I’m working on at the moment. It changes with each book.

Snog, Marry, Date, One night stand, Best friends. Which of each of the 5 characters would YOU pick for each category?

Snog- Sed Lionheart (vocalist)

Marry- Brian Sinclair (lead guitarist)

Date- Jace Seymour (bassist)

One Night Stand- Trey Mills (rhythm guitarist)

Best Friends- Eric Sticks (drummer)

Dare has popped up quite a bit through out the first 3 books, might he get his own book?

That’s the plan, but I haven’t started working on it yet. I have started working on Logan’s book. He’s the bassist in Dare’s band, Exodus End.

A question from another reader: How will the timeline for the last 2 books work as it seems like the two remaining characters are already well into their own stories?

The books were released out of order, so the timeline stays true to the order I wrote them in. Hot Ticket occurs concurrently and after Rock Hard. Then Wicked Beat comes between Hot Ticket and Double Time. Double Time is the end of the series. The only thing that changed was that the publisher released them in the wrong order.

11. Hot Ticket is almost here! Personally i cant wait. Do you get nervous in the run up to a release date?

Not nervous really. There’s nothing you can do about the book once it’s released in the world. I do find I read my reviews right before a release. I try not to do that much after a book is out because all the conflicting opinions make me question my ability as an author.

If you were stranded on a Desert Island what things would you want to have with you?

Food, water, indoor plumbing and something to write on. And a Wilson volleyball to talk to.

Do you have a motto in life?

Get out of your own way. You never know what you can do, if you’re too afraid to try something new. (that rhymes! Sounds like something out of Dr. Seuss)

When is the last time you laughed / cried?

Yesterday, when I was writing. Yesterday, when I was writing. I’m an emotional wreck when I write. 🙂 After I finish answering my email messages, I’m going to go write, laugh and cry today too.

What is your greatest achievement?

That’s a difficult question. I’ve raised a great son on my own, completed a masters degree in an advanced science field, attained the career I wanted, and recently left that career to write full-time. So I guess my greatest achievement has been identifying my dreams, attempting to make them a reality, and sometimes succeeding.

What would you like to say to your fans?

You rock! I couldn’t have attained my dream of writing full-time without you. And yes, I know, I need to write faster.

Finally can i interview you again at the end of the series?

Probably.

For Kicks

cover ForKicks_v2

Breeze Cohen is a workaholic. At only 26 years old she is on the fast track to becoming the youngest ever store manager at Mendelssohns Department Store. She won’t let anything get in her way. She didn’t, however, factor in falling into the arms (quite literally) of ex pro soccer star Logan Chandler. Logan is a live life in the moment for the moment kind of a guy, everything in Breeze’s life is planned and structured. There is an instant attraction and while Breeze fights to ignore it Logan decides he is going to fight too. Though his fight is different, he wants to fight for her and to show her there is much more to life than work, to convince Breeze that thing thing missing in her life is HIM. Problem is thought Breeze doesnt think there is anything missing in her life to begin with. Can he convince her to live, or will his fight be in vain?

I greatly enjoyed reading this book. While it may not set the world on fire I wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to recommend it. It has everything you look for in a book, with a good few steamy encounters thrown in for good measure. My only real criticism with this book is that it was over too soon. The end just crept up too quickly and I was left wanting more, not the worst thing in the world but I feel Jenna Bayley-Burke may have short-changed herself! I rated it as a 3* in goodreads but if it were longer I believe it would have been a 4* book.

Here I normally throw in where you can find out more about the Author and where you can get a copy of the book, but Jenna Bayley-Burke kindly did all that for me in her interview. Thanks Jenna 😉

I can’t wait to start the next one in my library! With such an extensive back catalogue I don’t know how I will choose!

I hope you enjoy the interview with Jenna, I really enjoyed reading her answers, so truthful and warm!

Jeanna Bayley-Burke

Who is Jenna Bayley-Burke?
An alarm clock, referee, short-order cook, stylist, chauffer, coffee enthusiast, writer, math tutor, amateur photographer, housekeeper, dog walker, gourmet chef, barber, and competitive Words with Friends player. You know, the typical mom/wife/friend combo.

You have quite an extensive back catalogue, how long have you been writing?
I started writing professionally in 2004, my first novel released in 2006.

You are a mother first, how do you fit writing around your hectic home life?
I write when the kids are asleep or in school. My princess is still wee, which means she naps. Thank goodness. I used to be able to start working after dinner, but now our boys are older and have activities of their own that push clear up til bedtime. It’s a balancing act.

I have just finished reading For Kicks, there is quite an extensive knowledge of retail management. Did you work in this area or did you have to do a huge amount of research? For Kicks was my post-retail therapy. I took training trips like the one Breeze wound up on, except David Beckham was not showing up at my hotel to help me relax. I might have stayed in retail if I had that kind of incentive!

What writers do you most admire?
Vicki Lewis Thompson. She’s amazing, and I tell her what a fan I am every time I see her. Well, except this last time because she remembered my name. Or read it off my name tag. Either way, it’s hard to be all fan-girl when someone knows your name.

Do you find there to be great support among authors?
Absoultely. Lucy Monroe is practically my writing therapist, Delilah Marvelle is determined to get me to promote myself, and Donna Alward is my own personal cheerleader. (pom pom swish)

How much easier do you think it has become to break into the industry with the advent of ereaders and erading apps on smart phones and tablets?
Okay, so this is going to seem counter-intuitive, but I think it’s harder. There are so many options available that people don’t know what will be best for their story and get tangled up in the possibilities. And readers are smarter about quality than ever before. Yes, more books are published, but readers are still demanding well-written, well-edited stories. Since there is so much out there, a single story that does not resonate with a reader can turn them off an author forever.

What is you favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I am waiting on a lot of books to come out in 2013, are there any books that you are impatiently waiting for?
Shelli Stevens Girl Gone Plaid, which isn’t even out until this summer. I love her stuff, and she had the best Tweets while she was writing it.

You are being stripped of all luxuries, what three things will you miss the most?
Okay, define luxury. Because I love my bed, a hot bath, and my lounge pants. Can’t live without. My husband thinks we bought this house so I could have an office, but it was the garden tub. Now, if you’re talking electronics then I’d miss the TV and Wii because they keep the kids entertained and we love family game nights with Fortune Street or bowling. And I have a special relationship with my Nespresso machine.

Do you think women are more open to reading books dubbed ‘mummy porn’ since the release of Fifty Shades of Grey?
I love any book that gets people reading more. Harry Potter did it, Edward Cohen, Christian Grey. People relate to strong characterization. (Yes, I do know Christian is a non-sparkley Edward.) People are looking for a consuming read regardless of the sensuality level. There is more curiosity about BDSM because of 50 Shades, but while it may have been the titillation factor that had people picking up book one, but it was the characterization that made people read the entire trilogy. In a weekend.

Fifty Shades was the first (but by no means last) of this type of book I read, have you noticed more of a demand for such books?
I know there were a glut of BDSM stories pitched to publishers in the wake of EL James sales numbers, but the industry is careful to select only the very best. Eden Bradley and Sylvia Day were both writing BDSM before 50 Shades, so their books were re-released and they wrote more because of the demand. But when it comes to new authors I think publishers are only looking for quality, like Lynda Aicher’s Wicked Play series.

What are your best and worst traits?
I am a procrastinator of the first order. Like, woah. And I have ADD, which is a blessing and a curse. I can do a lot of things at once, but usually because I can’t focus my attention on one thing at a time. I hope my best trait is how much I enjoy people. I really like being around happy people, which is why I love going to reader events. Romance readers are happier than the general population. True story.

What three things do you need to succeed in life?
Sleep, cuddles, and laughter

What is your favourite programme?
Grimm. Have you seen it? It’s this paranormal crime drama. So different from what I write, but it’s fantastic. And it films in my city.

Biggest turn on/off in a man?
Stank. Men should smell like men, not like a rotting onion. On the other side I love a man who smells good. My husband tried to change his body wash and I freaked out a little. The guy smells great, I don’t want that to change.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Oh…good one. Magazines come to mind first. I love the glossy pages and have way too many subscriptions. I have a nail polish obsession. I love the look of a manicure, but my nails are thin which leads to chipped polish. I found Incoco nail appliques during a trip to Las Vegas a few years ago, and I now buy them in one year batches. I’m not kidding. I love them that much.

Do you like to be interviewed?
Yes! It’s different each time. I can always find something to talk about, so an interveiw keeps me on track.

What would you like to say to your fans?
I always ask people who read Drive Me Crazy if they thought there was a ghost. Love hearing answers. And…if you ever see me at an event chat me up. I am actually painfully shy. But once I ‘know’ someone I warm right up. Find Jenna : Website:http://www.jennabayleyburke.com
